Gqeberha, 2 September 2021– As part of its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme, earlier this week, the Coega Development Corporation (CDC) donated blankets to the Ekuphumleni Old Age Home in Gqeberha, at Zwide. The donation of these blankets by the CDC to more than 50 elderly people living in the home is especially welcomed during this time of the year, saysMr. Mongameli Peter, the CEO of the Ekuphumleni Old Age Home.

“We are very honoured to have been chosen by Coega and would like to extend words of gratitude for the gifts.  The timing is perfect for us amid the winter season and the COVID19 pandemic. In addition, we trust that this is the beginning of a good relationship with Coega, and that more organisations would come forward to assist us,” added Mr. Peter.

“In line with Principle 3 of the King IV report on corporate governance, as a good corporate citizen the CDC places a huge emphasis on the community development throughout its projects.  We understand that community development is important to the growth of our economy, and working together with the various Non-Profit Organisations (NPO’s) and Partners, we can reduce the levels of poverty and unemployment.  This is in line with  our vision to be the leading catalyst for championing of the socio-economic development,” added Ms. Zola Ngoma, CDC’s Unit Head of Human Resources Management.

“The CDC continues to improve the lives of many people, especially in the areas where we have operations or projects that are being implemented for our clients throughout the country and rest of the continent.” We wish to encourage other like-minded organisation to partner with the CDC to advance community development, and to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth,” concludes Ms. Ngoma.
